A Nigerian man, Abisoye Falabi, has recently garnered attention for his candid account of why he made the life-changing decision to relocate abroad. His motivation behind this move stemmed from a striking pay disparity he stumbled upon in his Nigerian workplace.
Falabi took to Twitter to share his experience, shedding light on how he became acutely aware of this income gap when tasked with interviewing and hiring two foreign candidates for his company.
In response to a Twitter query about the moment he realized he had to leave Nigeria, Abisoye Falabi openly recounted his revelation, stating:
“When I realized my earning potential was capped in Nigeria. A few years back, my employer then asked me to interview & hire two foreign-based potential hires to join my team. The least of the two asked for $250k base. It was approved. Remote. I wasn’t earning up to 0.5 of that.”
