Samson, a 29-year-old choirmaster, has confessed to raping and killing 32-year-old Ruth Yakadi Bako, who was returning from her workplace in Jos North LGA of Plateau State. The incident occurred on Saturday night, December 10, 2022, when the assailant accosted Ruth, defiled her, and took away her belongings. Her lifeless body was discovered the next morning near a car wash in the Farin Gada area.
In an interview with newsmen, Samson stated that he had no reason for what he did but only committed the heinous act due to "wickedness of the heart." He admitted to wanting to sleep with Ruth but killed her after she refused his advances.
Samson, who worked as a security guard at a filling station, disclosed that he saw Ruth walking past the station around 11 pm and called her. He caught up with her after she refused his advances and stabbed her before raping her. He also confessed to holding on to her phone for a month before selling it to a man named Ephraim Emmanuel.
Samson, who started working at the filling station in August 2022 and was paid N28,000, has been arrested and is currently in police custody. The case is being investigated by the police, and Samson will be charged to court accordingly.
