Chelsea have officially secured the signing of young Argentine winger, Alejandro Garnacho, from Manchester United in a deal reportedly valued at £40 million, marking one of the standout transfers of the summer window.
The 21-year-old, who has been one of the most talked-about young talents in world football, put pen to paper on a long-term seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, signifying the club’s intent to build for the future around emerging stars. Manchester United, however, ensured their interests were protected by inserting a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement.
Garnacho’s departure from Old Trafford came after United manager, Ruben Amorim, reportedly informed him that he was no longer part of the Red Devils’ strategic plans for the 2025/26 season. This development opened the door for Chelsea, who quickly moved to secure his services amid interest from several other top European clubs.
His arrival further strengthens Chelsea’s squad depth and attacking options, as he joins a list of exciting recruits that already includes Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato, alongside previously agreed signings such as Estevao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez.
Speaking in his first official interview with Chelsea’s media team, Garnacho expressed his joy and ambition: “It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. Chelsea is a team with a massive history and ambition, and being part of that means a lot to me. I can’t wait to get started.”
He further added with excitement: “To join the world champions is special, we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here, and I’m very happy to contribute to the journey ahead. I want to give my all for the fans and the badge.”
With this move, Garnacho not only embarks on a new chapter in his career but also raises expectations among Chelsea supporters, who eagerly anticipate seeing the young winger’s flair, pace, and creativity light up the Premier League this season.
