During the inauguration, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to advancing the nation’s infrastructure. He emphasized the ongoing reforms, acknowledging the challenges, including the increase in prices of essential goods and services, stemming from these transformative measures.

“This revolution that has started, this reform that is ongoing, we are not looking back. The engineering, construction, and our pledge to be loyal to our country lead to a bright light at the end of the tunnel,” he declared.

President Tinubu acknowledged the resistance faced in fighting corruption but affirmed the determination to overcome it. He addressed the people, stating, “We said we can do it, you believed in us. Corruption will go away, save the money for education, healthcare, and a modern transportation system benefiting the majority.”

The Red Line will share the right-of-way with the Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge Railway, initially connecting Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo in Lagos. Key stations along the route include Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and Oyingbo.

In a brief statement on X (formerly Twitter), Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted the project's significance, linking critical points across Lagos for increased opportunities and sustainable growth. He described the commissioning as more than a project, labeling it "a generational leap for our city."

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians and Nigerians within the Lagos metropolis to embrace the transformative potential of the LMRT Red Line. He emphasized unity and a collective journey towards a brighter, more connected future.
