The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has urged Nigerians to exercise patience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, as it diligently works to address and resolve the numerous challenges facing the country. Ohanenye made this appeal during a charitable event held in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, where she personally supervised the distribution of relief items intended to support vulnerable communities struggling with the economic downturn.

At the event, a wide range of supplies was provided to help alleviate the hardships experienced by less privileged families in the area. The distribution included 5,000 bags of 10 kg rice, 300 gas cylinders, and 500 bags of 50 kg fertilizers, all aimed at easing the burdens faced by those most affected by the ongoing economic challenges. Ohanenye emphasized that while the government recognizes the difficulties people are enduring, substantial improvements will take time to materialize, as President Tinubu's administration works to undo the damage left by previous governments.

In her speech, Ohanenye acknowledged the pressing economic hardships that many Nigerians are currently facing. However, she emphasized that the government’s efforts to improve the situation will take time, and she expressed her unwavering confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and his determination to steer the country toward a brighter future. According to her, the president has been making difficult decisions to rectify the economy and eliminate the negative practices that have long hindered the nation's growth.

“I plead with you to be patient with the president. He is doing everything to change the negative practices that have crippled the nation’s economy. Just give the president time; in the next few months, things will begin to improve,” Ohanenye stated. She further reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu is working tirelessly to ensure that the country experiences real, sustainable progress. She highlighted that although the situation is tough, change is on the horizon, and the administration is committed to bringing about meaningful improvements in the lives of citizens.

Ohanenye also pointed out that “He needs time to clean up the mess left by previous administrations. Honestly, things were bad before President Tinubu took office, and he is working hard to bring happiness to Nigerians.” She emphasized that the challenges the country is currently facing are inherited issues, and the president’s efforts are aimed at fixing these deep-rooted problems.

The Minister went on to explain that the Tinubu-led administration has introduced several social security programs aimed at uplifting the poorest and most vulnerable members of society. These initiatives, she noted, are designed to provide a safety net for Nigerians who have been hardest hit by the economic downturn. To this end, she encouraged individuals to submit their Bank Verification Number (BVN) to the government so that appropriate assistance can be extended to those who need it the most.

“The BVN helps the government identify those who qualify for federal social security palliatives. The aid is meant for the poor, not the rich, who have cornered these resources over the years,” she added. By submitting their BVN, citizens can ensure that the government is able to plan effectively and target its assistance to the right groups, thus ensuring that the resources allocated for social welfare reach the intended beneficiaries.
