Emeka Chochoo, the ex-manager of renowned Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has shared insights into the challenging health journey that the actor is currently navigating. Reports indicate that Mr Ibu underwent seven surgeries, including the amputation of one of his legs, due to a severe infection affecting the arteries at the ankle.
In an exclusive revelation, Chochoo, who served as Mr Ibu's manager for over a decade, disclosed that the actor is responding well to treatment and is gradually on the path to recovery. Despite the complexities of the situation, the medical team is diligently addressing various health issues that have impacted the beloved actor.
The necessity of amputation arose from an infection that had adversely affected one of the arteries at the ankle. Unfortunately, the condition went undetected until it reached a critical stage, compelling the medical team to make the difficult decision to amputate the leg. Chochoo explained, "The doctors are treating everything one after the other. What led to the amputation of one of his legs was an infection that affected one of the arteries at the ankle."
The revelation highlights the critical importance of timely detection in medical conditions, as the impact on Mr Ibu's leg became irreversible by the time it was diagnosed. The actor's health challenges have prompted plans for further treatment abroad, despite the initial surgery taking place in Nigeria. Chochoo shared, "The surgery was done in Nigeria. He will soon be flown out of the country for further treatment, but for now, he is being cared for in Nigeria."
