President Bola Tinubu has made an intriguing move by appointing Orire Agbaje, a dedicated 400-level student from the esteemed University of Ibadan (UI), to serve as a member of the esteemed Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. This significant development took place during the committee's inauguration event held in Abuja on a recent Tuesday.
The University of Ibadan student, Orire Agbaje, stands out as an exceptional individual with her active involvement as the president of the university's tax club. Her academic focus in Economics combined with her leadership roles, including being the President of Nigerian Universities Tax Club and SEIH Unibadan, highlights her potential impact on the committee's endeavors.
The significance of Orire Agbaje's inclusion is evident in the words of President Tinubu himself. The Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, led by Taiwo Oyedele, is entrusted with multiple responsibilities, including tax law reforms, fiscal policy design, and the intricate task of coordinating and harmonizing taxes alongside revenue administration.
President Tinubu's vision for the committee is ambitious yet well-defined. The committee is expected to swiftly present a schedule of practical reforms to be executed within thirty days. Moreover, the plan extends to recommending critical reform measures within six months, with the ultimate goal of complete implementation within the span of a single calendar year.
