Reports say that a teenage girl from a prestigious private school was fatally stabbed to death just moments after rejecting flowers [/b]from a boy.
On Wednesday at around 8:30 a.m., a 15-year-old unidentified victim was attacked in front of a shopping center on the busy Wellesley Road, which passes through Croydon’s central business district.
The Old Palace of John Whitgift school confirmed the victim was a student and stated staff members are shocked by her “senseless and tragic death.“.
Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that the girl, her friends, and students from a different nearby school got into a fight on a bus, which then spilled over onto the sidewalk.
One witness reported seeing the girl get stabbed [/b]after she turned down a boy’s offer of flowers.
Despite valiant efforts by the general public and emergency personnel to save her, she was found dead on the pavement.
A 17-year-old boy was detained and is still in police custody, according to Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain, who spoke at a press conference at the scene in Croydon.
