The incident was reported to the Ijebu Rewa Organisation following a distress call. It was revealed that the unfortunate incident took place while Samson, the suspect's younger brother, was away at work during his night shift.

According to neighbors, Samson had been absent from home for over five years before returning just a month ago. During this period, his mother had frequently voiced concerns to neighbors and security authorities regarding her son's drug addiction.

An anonymous neighbor recounted that in the early hours of Sunday, Samson approached him, claiming that his mother, the prophetess, had collapsed and died. However, upon entering the house, the neighbors discovered evidence of strangulation, as there were marks on the mother's neck and leg. Furthermore, her left hand was broken, and there were bloodstains on Samson's fingernails. As suspicions grew, it became evident that Samson, under the influence of hard drugs, had committed the horrendous act of strangling his own mother.

The neighbors restrained Samson, who professed ignorance and denied any knowledge of the event or how it occurred. He was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, while the mother's body was taken to the morgue for further investigation.

This tragic incident has brought immense sadness to the residents of the Itanrin axis in Ijebu-Ode. The authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover all relevant details surrounding the case.
