“Spending your money without your husband’s knowledge is the same as cheating” – Nigerian man argues

A Nigerian man named Eke Ako has ignited an online debate with his assertion that a woman who spends her money without her husband's knowledge is committing an act of unfaithfulness. This controversial statement was made in a post on his Facebook page, where he chastised women who use their earnings without their husband's approval.

Eke Ako went further to argue that this financial secrecy is akin to engaging in sexual infidelity. He expressed his viewpoint by saying, "FINANCIAL INFIDELITY VS SEXUAL INFIDELITY." He emphasized that the funds earned within a marriage also belong to the husband, and when a wife spends money outside the family unit (husband, children, and herself) without the husband's knowledge and consent, it is tantamount to sexual infidelity in its seriousness.

"My dear sisters who emulate Western marriages often overlook this aspect," he remarked. According to Ako, Igbo marriages are superior, advocating for resolving marital conflicts without mere endurance but with toughness, tolerance, and endurance. He stressed the importance of understanding one's place in the marriage and cautioned against altering the natural order in an attempt to mimic what may not be fully understood.
