According to media personality and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress party in the last presidential election, Omoyele Sowore, there are people who want Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti executed for slapping a police officer during a confrontation of Third Mainland Bridge on May 13, 2023. Sowore made the claim via a tweet he shared, in which he alleged that these people want Seun Kuti executed for not supporting Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2023 presidential election.
Sowore further stated that there is nothing wrong if someone admits that they want Seun Kuti summarily executed because he did not support Peter Obi for president. He also mentioned that the Nigerian police force agreed to investigate what led to the altercation between the police officer and Seun Kuti on Third Mainland Bridge. Additionally, Seun Kuti accepted to cooperate with the investigators, but because he was against Peter Obi, some people want him executed summarily.[/
Sowore accused those who want Seun Kuti executed of being hypocrites, pointing out that the same police force that helped rig the 2023 presidential election and unjustly executed young Nigerians during the #endsars protests are now being hailed as heroes because Seun Kuti is not supporting Peter Obi.
