A 24-year-old pregnant lady has been arrested on charges of brutalizing her 7-year-old nephew after he failed to recite the English alphabet. The woman, identified as Mrs. Abigail Eguta, allegedly subjected the young boy to severe physical abuse, nearly causing him to lose his eyesight. The incident came to light when concerned neighbors intervened and brought the injured child, named Sunday, to the attention of the state women and social welfare commissioner, Ify Obinabo. It was revealed that Sunday was living with his aunt, Mrs. Eguta, for a year, as his own mother is the sister of the pregnant woman. During questioning, Mrs. Eguta admitted to beating the child due to his inability to correctly recite the alphabet. She expressed remorse for her actions, claiming that she did not intend to cause permanent harm and attributed her behavior to the influence of the devil.
