A Nigerian nurse has recounted a deeply emotional and shocking encounter with an eight-month pregnant woman who showed up at the hospital in the middle of the night, seeking an unusual kind of help that left many stunned.
The story was shared on TikTok by user @nesssa055, who revealed that the heavily pregnant woman had approached her privately, despite not being an official patient of the hospital, to make a heartbreaking confession. According to the nurse, the woman disclosed through tears that she no longer wished to continue with the pregnancy.
Explaining further, the woman reportedly told the nurse that her boyfriend — the man believed to be the father of the unborn child — had refused to accept responsibility for the pregnancy from the very beginning. Not only was he unsupportive, but his family also stood against her decision to keep the baby, leaving her feeling abandoned and pressured.
The nurse revealed how the situation broke her heart, describing how the distressed woman begged for assistance at such a late stage of pregnancy. “She came in last night, asked to speak with a nurse. Not even our patient. I took her aside and listened. Through tears, she said she no longer wanted to continue her pregnancy… eight months gone, oh boy,” the nurse wrote.
She added that while she could not offer the woman the solution she was desperately seeking, she instead referred her to a counselor who could provide the proper support and guidance. “The father wasn’t supportive, he didn’t want the baby, neither was his family. My heart broke. I told her we couldn’t help in that way, but I referred her to a counselor. If a man tells you he doesn’t want a baby, believe him. Mind you, the said father of the baby came with her. Nursing sometimes is just listening,” she noted.
The nurse, while sympathizing with the woman, also expressed that it was unfortunate she waited until seven months into the pregnancy to make such a decision, stressing that she would now have to live with the consequences of her actions. “Took her seven months to decide. She should live with the consequence of her actions,” she wrote.
Her revelation quickly went viral, sparking a heated conversation online. Many social media users flooded the comment section with mixed reactions, ranging from sympathy for the woman’s emotional struggle to harsh criticism of both her and her partner’s decisions.
