A Nigerian lady was apprehended by customs officials at Delhi International Airport on Tuesday, February 1, 2024, for allegedly trafficking cocaine [/b]estimated at ₹82 crore (N75 million) into India.
The arrest transpired following the woman's arrival from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
As detailed in the official statement released on Thursday, February 1, 2024, the suspect underwent a comprehensive baggage inspection, leading to the discovery of a concealed substance within two blue-colored trolley bags she carried.
Upon closer examination, officials uncovered a total of 5.8 kg of a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotics.
The statement emphasized that a preliminary diagnostic test indicated the presence of a commercial quantity of cocaine in the seized substance.
The international value of the confiscated narcotics is approximated at ₹82.446 crore.
In response to this discovery, customs officials promptly arrested the passenger, and the seized narcotics were confiscated.
