Following her arrest, Blessing Joy was remanded by the court in Kasaragod and placed in police custody. The arrest was made by Bekal DySP C.K. Sunil Kumar, under the supervision of Kasaragod ASP P.K. Raju.

According to the police, the investigation leading to the arrest was initiated based on information provided by Abu Bakar, Ameena Azara, A.K. Wasim, and Suraj, who were previously arrested in Kasaragod. These individuals, residing in different locations including Melaparamba police station area, Kalyana Nagar in Karnataka, and Bengaluru, were arrested on April 22.

Before her arrest for drug fraud, the Nigerian Embassy was notified by the Kasaragod investigation team regarding the apprehension of Blessing Joy. It was revealed that she did not possess a passport, visa, or any other identification documents. She had entered Bengaluru on a student visa about a year and a half ago, but it is suspected that her primary motive was drug trafficking disguised as pursuing studies.

District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena stated that over the past two and a half years, Kasaragod police had seized significant amounts of MDMA on 35 occasions. It is believed that a major portion of the contraband originated from Hafsa, indicating her involvement in multiple drug-related cases. Saxena described her as a significant figure in the drug trade, likening her to the chief executive of her criminal operation.
