A married Nigerian woman has stirred conversations online after publicly lamenting her ordeal with her husband, who resides abroad but allegedly monitors her every move through CCTV cameras installed across their home. According to her, the extensive surveillance has robbed her of peace, freedom, and privacy, leaving her in a constant state of unease.
In a viral video currently making rounds on social media, the woman revealed that her husband went as far as fixing cameras in nearly every corner of the house, including the kitchen, bedroom, and compound. To make matters worse, the devices reportedly come with two-way audio functionality, enabling him to speak directly to her in real time whenever he chooses.
Sharing one of her experiences, she narrated how she once attempted to create TikTok content in the compound, only for her husband to suddenly interrupt via the CCTV system. She recalled him addressing her with phrases like, “Woman, Imo State woman,” a moment she described as both intrusive and unsettling, as it made her feel like she was being constantly watched without respite.
The distraught wife disclosed that she can no longer enjoy the comfort of her own home, as she feels spied on in private spaces such as her kitchen and even her bedroom. Her frustration, she explained, has now pushed her into deep regret about marrying a man based abroad, as the long distance has seemingly fueled mistrust and excessive control.
Expressing her emotions in Pidgin English, she warned other women against following her path, stating: “No marry man wey dey abroad. I don tire, Chineke.” Her statement, filled with exhaustion and regret, underscored the emotional burden she claims to be enduring.
The viral video has since generated diverse reactions from netizens, with some sympathizing with her plight, while others debated whether her husband’s actions stemmed from insecurity, control, or an attempt to safeguard his family in his absence.
