A 68-year-old Nigerian man, Joseph Ibironke, who claimed to have spent 30 years abroad, returned home with nothing, finally meets his son, John Ibironke, a building contractor from Igbara Oke, Ondo State.
John, who was only a few months old when his father left Nigeria in 1980, embarked on a search in 2016 to reunite with him. Raised by his mother and an older brother, John lived with his father’s elder brother in Lagos after his mother remarried. Despite knowing little about his father’s life abroad, John perceived him as a successful businessman who cared for his family.
Mr. Joseph, who spent 9 years in the United Kingdom and 21 years in the United States before returning due to a mysterious illness, expressed his joy at reuniting with his son after decades apart.
John's search led him to Igbara Oke, where he received a call revealing his father’s return to Nigeria. He excitedly called Joseph, initiating their first conversation after years of separation.
