Renowned Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, has revealed that he took it upon himself to renovate the Panti cell, which includes improvements to the toilet, floor, wall, and shower facilities. He did this with the intention of benefiting individuals who might find themselves in detention there, including artists like Naira Marley.
In a recently shared video, Seun Kuti detailed the changes he made to the Panti cell after his release. This action comes following his earlier arrest, which stemmed from an incident where he was captured slapping a police officer.
Speaking about his post-detention actions, he emphasized the importance of addressing issues that affect individuals who might find themselves in similar situations. Seun Kuti stated, "Some things I did that I didn’t announce, but it’s important for me to talk about them here. It could be you tomorrow. When I left the Panti cell, do you know the first thing I did when I got home?"
He continued, "I gave my people money to renovate that cell, to change the toilet, shower, and paint the walls. I paid for it out of my pocket because I realized I could end up back there tomorrow. At least, Naira (Naira Marley) can enjoy my charity there."
Seun Kuti mentioned Naira Marley in light of the ongoing detention of the Nigerian singer in connection to an incident involving Mohbad.
