The Bayelsa State Police Command has officially confirmed the arrest of three young women after a viral social media video exposed them assaulting a lady identified as Nancy.
The troubling incident, which recently spread like wildfire across multiple platforms, showed the suspects, led by a young woman identified as Kadi, violently attacking Nancy in broad daylight. Reports suggest that the altercation stemmed from accusations that Nancy was allegedly involved in an affair with a man romantically linked to one of the suspects, as well as claims that she had been speaking ill of them to other men in the community.

In the disturbing video, Nancy struggled to defend herself but was overwhelmed by the trio. She alleged that Kadi had a long-standing grudge against her, recounting an incident where she was “broke-shamed” on WhatsApp and mocked for not being able to afford basic fashion items like a wig. The conflict, which many initially thought was just online banter, escalated into a full-blown physical confrontation.
Witnesses claim that during the assault, the suspects forcibly stripped Nancy of her clothing while recording the ordeal. The footage was later uploaded online, triggering outrage, condemnation, and demands for justice from rights activists, women’s groups, and the general public. The act of humiliation and the decision to broadcast it on social media intensified calls for law enforcement to step in without delay.
Responding to mounting public pressure, the Bayelsa Police Command released an official update confirming that the three suspects have been successfully tracked, identified, and taken into custody. Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the young women will face prosecution for assault, defamation, and cyber-related offenses tied to the sharing of the video online.
The police further emphasized that the case would serve as a stern warning against social media bullying, physical assault, and the public humiliation of individuals, particularly in a digital era where such actions can cause long-lasting emotional and psychological harm to victims.
