This incident unfolded on August 19 when the former UFC middleweight champion was pulled over and subsequently found to have 87 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood in his system. It's important to note that New Zealand's legal limit for blood alcohol content stands at 50 milligrams.

As a consequence of this offense, Adesanya potentially faces a hefty fine of up to $2,680 and/or a three-month jail sentence, as per ESPN. Expressing remorse for his actions, Adesanya released a statement through ESPN, saying, "I want to apologize to the community, my family, and my team for the decision I made to get behind the wheel after drinking at a dinner. I am disappointed with my decision to drive; it was wrong. I know that people might follow me, and I want them to know I do not think this behavior is acceptable."
