A source who pleaded anonymity in a phone chat with the Peoples Gazette said, "The old woman (Iforiti) is dead after sustaining some burns in the fire incident. She was taken to the hospital but we got the information that she’s dead."

It can be recalled that the septuagenarian who lived with her son at Aponmu Community, along Ondo-Akure Road, set the house ablaze while the family was asleep on Saturday, March 18. Some neighbors broke into the house through the window and rescued her son, Victor Oloro; wife, Rachael; and children, Toluwani and Blessing. They were rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Owo for medical attention. Victor and his wife gave up the ghost while their children were said to be receiving treatment.

The grandmother, Iforiti Oloro, while speaking with journalists after the incident, confessed that she burnt her son and his family, claiming that they were starving her.

A police investigator in the case also confirmed Mrs. Oloro’s death saying, "Yes, she is dead. She has been moved to the morgue."
