The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya,[/b] has taken a decisive step by ordering the immediate closure of local nightclubs, commonly referred to as 'Gala Houses,' situated throughout the state.
The move follows a surge of public complaints regarding the detrimental influence of these establishments on the community. The directive, conveyed through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, underscores the urgent need to address the escalating instances of immoral conduct, criminal activities, and security breaches associated with these nightclubs.
To ensure strict compliance with the closure, Governor Yahaya has enlisted the involvement of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Operation Hattara, tasking them to deploy their personnel and oversee the enforcement of the directive.
Governor Yahaya has expressed his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the security and moral fabric of the state, aiming to put an end to activities that endanger the well-being of its residents.
The directive lists the affected Gala Houses as follows: Jami’a Gidan Wanka located at Mile 3 Yola Road, Gombe; White House Theatre (Babban Gida) situated at New Mile 3 Yola Road, Gombe; Gidan Lokaci General Merchant found at Mile 3 Reservoir Road, Gombe; and Farin Gida Entertainment II located at Wuro Karal, Kalshingi Road, Gombe. Additional locations affected include Gidan Zamani Entertainment New Mile 3, Yola Road, Tumfure, Gombe; Albarka Entertainment situated at Wuro Karal, Bypass near Hara Form, Gombe; Gala Houses in Kuri Town, Lubo village, and Kurba village, all in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area. Also included are Tauraren Wash situated at Trailer Park, Bauchi Road, Gombe, and Gala House located at Bajoga Town in Funakaye Local Government Area.
Through this comprehensive action, Governor Yahaya aims to curb the negative impacts associated with the nightclubs and reinforce the safety and well-being of the state's populace.
