Ada Adiiche, a former member of the prominent Nigerian ministry, Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival, has once again used social media to openly discuss and criticise the founder of the church, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, claiming that his teachings directly led to the breakdown of her marriage. The revelation has sparked conversations online among current and former members of the church, as well as observers interested in the influence of religious doctrines on personal lives.

Ada, who has previously voiced strong criticisms against the church’s practices and doctrines, recounted that Pastor Lazarus’ preaching compelled her to leave her home, despite the fact that she described her marriage as peaceful and her husband as loving and respectful. She said the doctrines emphasized that women married into polygamous homes would not attain salvation, claiming that “second, third, or fourth wives have no husbands in God’s sight.”

She explained that during one sermon, Pastor Lazarus stated: “You’re a second, third, or fourth wife, you have no husband; pack your load and go. You married three or two, remove the second and third one until death do you part with the first wife.” These words, Ada said, created an internal conflict that eventually led her to take drastic steps regarding her marital status.

“My husband was a good man. He never laid his hands on me or treated me badly in any way. But because of Pastor Lazarus’ preaching, I felt compelled to pack my belongings and leave. I even consulted a senior pastor who told me it was the right decision and assured me that God would provide another husband,” Ada narrated in her video testimony. She emphasised that the decision was influenced by the combination of the church’s doctrines and the advice she received from spiritual authorities within the same ministry.

Ada further expressed frustration with other pastors from the same church who, despite being aware of her personal circumstances, continue to leave comments on her social media posts pressuring her to remarry according to the church’s standards. She described this as an ongoing form of coercion that affects her emotional and mental well-being.

The former member also promised to provide more details regarding the events that led to her departure from the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival church, as well as the “reality that hit” her decision, highlighting the deep personal impact of the teachings she followed. Ada’s story is part of a growing narrative of ex-members speaking out about the consequences of rigid religious teachings on individual life choices and family relationships.
