Laolu Akande, a former spokesperson for the immediate past Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, took to Twitter to express his views on the alleged damage caused by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele. Akande described the actions of Emefiele at the apex bank as colossal and stated that despite being given ample opportunity to redeem himself, he failed to do so.

Akande further emphasized that the suspension and investigation of Emefiele were long overdue and should be supported by all Nigerians who value integrity. He expressed his belief that Emefiele's actions were detrimental to the well-being of Nigerians and highlighted the need for accountability and transparency in the CBN's operations.

In particular, Akande criticized the dual exchange rate policy implemented by Emefiele, stating that it lacked coherence and seemed to be driven by corruption rather than sound economic principles. He expressed relief at the news of Emefiele's suspension and hoped for a positive change in the CBN's policies and practices moving forward.
