In an official statement posted on the commission's Facebook page, it was made clear that the use of EFCC-branded jackets, symbols, insignia, and other related elements in movies without proper authorization is illegal. The EFCC acknowledged the interest of content creators and filmmakers in incorporating plots related to economic and financial crimes but stressed the importance of seeking authorization from the commission. This includes having scenes that depict the operations of the EFCC vetted to ensure that accurate and responsible messages are conveyed to the public.

The EFCC's Public Affairs Department is ready to collaborate with motion picture practitioners who are interested in partnering with the commission to create films and skits that educate the public, particularly the youth, about the perils of economic and financial crimes.

The statement concluded with a strong message, stating that individuals found in violation of this advisory will be treated as impersonators and face appropriate consequences for their actions.
