The social media uproar accuses her of portraying Nigerians as dog eaters and raises concerns about unnecessary animal cruelty and ethical questions surrounding the dish. Many Nigerians have called for the video to be removed from her page.

[p]Amidst the criticism, Jackie Idimogu, the president of the "My Dog and I" group, took to her own page to express her disappointment in Hilda Baci. Jackie recounts how she and her fellow group members showed support for Hilda during her cook-marathon a few weeks ago. She emphasizes that there are dog lovers in the country who consider their pets as family and vehemently oppose any harm towards them. Jackie questions Hilda Baci's conscience in serving a dog delicacy alongside the other foods she cooked, as it perpetuates the stereotype that Nigerians eat dogs.
