This shocking incident was revealed in a detailed post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @VivianRora, who explained that the victim is her cousin.

According to her narration, her cousin was approached by a cultist who demanded her phone number. After she declined his request, the cultist resorted to extreme violence, attacking her and causing a severe spinal injury that has now left her unable to stand or walk.

She wrote in part: “My cousin, a student of a Nigerian institution, was brutally attacked by cultists. They broke her spine, and since that day, she hasn’t been able to stand. Her life changed forever. And all this happened because she refused to give them her number. I detest cultism and cultists!”

The incident has since sparked outrage on social media, with many people expressing their deep shock, anger, and sympathy for the young lady, while also condemning cult-related violence in Nigerian institutions.

@Victor_Gameboy: “Still has nothing to do with poor parenting. Don’t blame the parents for the sins of the children. One day, you’ll have kids.”

@Sassiepresh: “I’ve had my fair share of attack and harassment from cultists. I hate them.”

@murkiiis: “They collect a lot of numbers every day just to show authority among themselves; they might not even text her. As a lady just give them and don’t give them a wrong one.”

@AlliOlabisi5: “Anyone that attended Ogun Poly or lived in Abeokuta between 1993–1998 can attest to this. Students were gunned down, macheted because of cultism. At Safari Junction, a lady’s womb/intestines were pulled out from her vagina with a hanger just because she refused to date one of them.”

@Princes51013171: “This might come off the wrong way to some people, but honestly, she could’ve just given them the number. Not because they deserved it but because sometimes, wisdom means choosing your battles carefully, especially in this kind of lawless environment. Give them the number, then block them.”

@tha_girrl: “I have a friend that when you walk up to her to start yeye small talk, she’ll just ask if you want her number, give it to you and end the conversation there. Na who go reply remain. Because men can be really scary sometimes tbh.”
