The couple had been in a committed relationship for eight years and had already welcomed a child into their lives. They seemed to have built a strong and faithful bond. However, the woman's concerns about their financial future played a pivotal role in her response. She expressed deep regret and sorrow regarding the aftermath of her decision.

According to her, her partner has moved on, leaving her with profound emotional pain. Although she believed she effectively communicated her reasons to him, it seems there was a lack of mutual understanding.

The primary reason for declining the proposal was her partner's status as the primary breadwinner. He had plans to attend university for a period of five to six years, and this worried the woman in terms of potential financial instability during that time. Considering their current child and the welfare of any potential future children, she believed it was crucial to wait until they had a more stable financial foundation before embarking on marriage.

In her own words, she shared, "I dated my baby dad for 8 years. Best relationship of my life. NEVER cheated. He proposed marriage early this year. I declined. Guy moved on. It hurts, it hurts so bad. I did communicate my reasons, and I thought he understood kanti. Reasons: He's a breadwinner. Still in the process of finishing his home, he's going to varsity next year for 5-6yrs, next year there won't be an income, I asked him to at least wait till I work. Our baby was 5 months then. I was only thinking for HIM. It was how I saw things. 'It's about his mental health. How are you to juggle varsity, kid, wife, family? And the cost of living in varsity is way high. I wasn't going to put him through that. If he had said 'I got this' and explained how, I wouldn't have declined.'"
