A young lady, known as @Justice_E_P_A on Twitter, shared a captivating story about how she took decisive action to retrieve a new phone that her brother had bought for his girlfriend. According to the legal practitioner, her brother had met this girl shortly after the lockdown in 2020 and developed strong feelings for her. After just a few days of talking, he decided to surprise her with a brand new Tecno Spark 4 smartphone.
When the girlfriend came to their house to express her gratitude, she refused to enter her brother's room and instead stood outside to convey her thanks. This behavior angered the lady because she was familiar with the situation. Sensing that something was amiss, her brother confronted the girlfriend about her avoidance. She explained that her mother had warned her to stay away from any man who wasn't from their village.
This revelation shocked both the lady and her brother. The lady couldn't understand why the girlfriend would accept and keep the phone if she believed it was unacceptable due to her mother's restrictions. In her own words, she expressed her disbelief, questioning the girlfriend's logic: "Ah! And you're still holding onto the phone my brother bought for you? You didn't return it? Is the phone from your village?"
Although her brother, being a gentle and kind-hearted person, allowed the girlfriend to keep the phone, the lady was determined to rectify the situation. She felt that the phone did not belong to the girlfriend's village and therefore should be returned. So, she began strategizing and came up with a plan.
After a few days, she reached out to a friend who worked with the Civil Defence and made arrangements for them to intervene. Her friend and some officers went to the girlfriend's house and arrested her on the grounds of holding a stolen phone. The girlfriend protested, claiming that she hadn't stolen the phone but rather received it as a gift. She was then asked to call the person who gave her the phone, but she refused, citing reasons that were deemed unsatisfactory.
Begging for mercy, the girlfriend was eventually released with the condition that she provide the receipt for the phone. However, she never returned. Seizing the opportunity, the lady collected the phone and rewarded her friends at the Civil Defence with 20,000 Naira for a job well done. She proudly concluded her story by revealing that she was now using the phone she had fought to retrieve, emphasizing her strong aversion to injustice.
