A 49-year-old man identified as Anthony Owusi has been taken to court in Lagos on allegations of stealing car tyres worth millions of naira. The accused appeared before the Ojo Magistrate's Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft. The prosecution claimed that on September 5, 2022, Owusi and his accomplices conspired to steal 245 car tyres valued at N4.2 million that belonged to Chukwudi Emele.
According to the prosecution, the case contravenes sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. The magistrate, L.J.K Layeni, granted the defendant bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until May 17 for trial.
