In a troubling incident, a 17-year-old female student identified as Victory Ehiremen from Osun State University, along with her boyfriend Ayobami Ariyo, has been paraded by the police for their alleged involvement in a robbery case. The duo is accused of luring a man from Lagos to Osun through a social media platform and robbing him of a staggering sum of N1.5 million.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe, the incident unfolded when Victory initiated contact with the complainant on a social media platform a few days prior to the robbery. After engaging in conversation, she convinced the victim to meet her in Ikire, Osun. However, upon the victim's arrival, Victory directed him to her boyfriend's residence, where he was ambushed by a group of individuals. These assailants proceeded to forcefully transfer N1.5 million from the victim's bank account.
Thanks to the prompt response from the police, Ayobami Ariyo was apprehended from his hiding place. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two other individuals suspected to be accomplices in the crime. The authorities are actively pursuing the arrest of any remaining individuals involved in the incident.
During her interaction with journalists, Victory maintained her innocence, claiming that she was unaware of her boyfriend's intention to commit such a heinous act and forcefully obtain money from the victim. She expressed her distress when Ayobami and his friend began assaulting the complainant after barging into the room where she and the victim were present. Furthermore, she revealed that her boyfriend, whom she accused of being involved in internet fraud, gifted her N40,000 just two days after the robbery occurred.
