Responding to the racist chants, Maignan walked off the pitch, resulting in a five-minute halt to the game. The identified Udinese supporter, a 46-year-old from Udine, reportedly faces an order barring him from entering stadiums for up to five years. Additionally, Udinese has taken independent action, issuing a lifetime ban to the individual involved.

In consequence, Udinese has been directed to play their next Serie A home match against Monza on February 3rd behind closed doors as a penalty for the incident.
