In the first half, Atletico Madrid had seemed poised to secure all three points, courtesy of a goal by Pablo Barrios. However, in the 95th minute, Provedel decided to join the attack during a critical set-piece opportunity.

After the initial clearance by Atletico's defense during a corner kick, the ball returned to the taker, who delivered an enticing in-swinging cross from the left. Seizing this moment, Provedel leaped above everyone else and executed a precise header that left Atletico's goalkeeper, Jan Oblak, helpless. This extraordinary goal sent Lazio fans into wild celebrations.

Provedel's feat is now etched in history, making him the second goalkeeper ever to score from open play in the Champions League. The only previous goalkeeper to achieve this remarkable feat was Sinan Bolat of Standard Liege back in December 2021.

The viral clip capturing Provedel's goal left fans astounded and in disbelief, as they marveled at the goalkeeper's impeccable timing and agility inside the penalty box. Some even began considering him as a potential striker.
