Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint Germain (PSG), are reportedly on the verge of securing the signature of Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele. According to RMC Sport, PSG aims to finalize the deal for Dembele as swiftly as possible, preferably before Monday, July 31, when his current £43 million release clause is set to double to £86 million (€100 million/$108 million). The French club appears willing to meet the full release clause amount, but it is understood that only half of the sum will go to Barcelona, with the remainder being split between the player and his agents.

The negotiations between Barcelona and Dembele for a new contract are ongoing, though the player has yet to reach a decision. The talented winger initially joined the Catalan giants in 2017 for a staggering fee of approximately £120 million, but he has struggled to fully justify that price tag. Last season, Dembele managed a modest five league goals and was frequently utilized as a substitute under the management of Barca boss Xavi.

Reports from certain French publications suggest that PSG is confident in attracting Dembele with their ambitious project. While some details still need to be ironed out, the negotiations between the player's agent, Moussa Sissoko, and Luis Campos, PSG's sporting director, have been described as positive.

Should the deal materialize, Dembele, who has made 185 appearances for Barcelona and contributed to three La Liga title triumphs, will become PSG's latest addition. The Parisian club has already secured signings such as Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lucas Hernández, Cher Ndour, Lee Kang-in, and appointed Luis Enrique as their new manager.

PSG's pursuit of Dembele comes amid concerns regarding the future of Kylian Mbappe. It is important to note that the potential arrival of Dembele is independent of Mbappe's situation, as PSG aims to have both talented French players operating on either flank, alongside a top-notch striker, whose recruitment is yet to be finalized.

If the deal is completed, Dembele, who has made 185 appearances for Barcelona and also won three La Liga titles will become the latest arrival at PSG, who have already signed Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lucas Hernández, Cher Ndour, Lee Kang-in, and a new manager, Luis Enrique.

PSG’s desire to close Dembele’s signing comes on the back of fears over the continuity of Kylian Mbappe. It was also reported that the arrival of Ousmane Dembele is independent of Kylian Mbappe’s future at PSG as the club want the French duo on either flank along with a top striker who is yet to be recruited.
