After the match, an elated Peseiro remarked, "I am happy because after 15 matches, we have finally won a game. We have not won a friendly game in the last five years. We have had eight defeats and seven draws, but today, the result was good."

Looking ahead, the Super Eagles are now setting their sights on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, scheduled for November.

Following that, they will be gearing up for their participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Ivory Coast in January 2024. Nigeria has been drawn into Group A for the tournament, alongside the host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea Bissau.

It's worth noting that the Super Eagles' last triumph in the African Cup of Nations occurred in 2013, and they are determined to pursue their fourth title in the upcoming event.
