Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been declared fit and is eligible for selection in Nigeria’s quarter-final clash against Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United, had concerns about his fitness after being stretchered off during Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Round of 16. Super Eagles boss Coach Jose Peseiro had initially mentioned that Nwabali would undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability.

Super Eagles Media Officer Babafemi Raji confirmed that the goalkeeper had trained well and was ready for selection, as reported by Channels TV.
“He trained yesterday. He trained a day before yesterday. But yesterday was much more intense.
So, it simply means he is available for selection today. For him to have trained yesterday with the rest of the team means that he is very much available for selection,” Raji said.
He, however, added that the decision on Nwabali’s inclusion in the starting lineup would be up to the coach, while stating that the Super Eagles are ready for the Black Antelopes.
The game is scheduled for 6:00 PM today, Friday.
