Despite a strong showing from Banyana Banyana's Thembi Kgatlana, Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar thwarted their efforts in the first half.

The Netherlands, who lost midfielder Danielle van de Donk to suspension, progresses to face Spain on August 11. Coach Andries Jonker admitted to a challenging first half but praised his team's efforts.

South Africa's departure from Australia is expected on August 7, and they will likely receive a warm welcome upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport.
