West Ham's Lucas Paqueta, an attacking midfielder, is currently under investigation by the English Football Association (FA) for alleged betting violations. The inquiry is focused on Paqueta's bookings during games, with bets being placed in Brazil. Last season, he received nine bookings for both club and country. Despite denying any personal betting involvement, Paqueta is reportedly taken aback by the reports. An £80 million deal for his move to Manchester City is nearly agreed upon, pending resolution of this issue. West Ham awaits news on whether their record signing will face charges. Despite the investigation, he might be available to play against Chelsea on Sunday. Paqueta played a crucial role for West Ham last season, including an assist in the Europa Conference League final. Manchester City is expected to consider alternative transfer options, potentially looking at Rennes winger Jérémy Doku. This incident follows Ivan Toney's eight-month ban for breaching FA betting rules earlier this summer.
