Nigeria's football sensation, Victor Osimhen, has achieved a historic milestone by being crowned the African Best Player of the Year at the CAF 2023 Awards held in Morocco.
Osimhen emerged as the top player in a prestigious lineup that included Achraft Hakimi and Mohamed Salah. This remarkable accomplishment breaks a longstanding jinx, marking him as the first Nigerian to claim the CAF Best Player of the Year title since Kanu Nwankwo achieved the feat in 1999.
The Napoli striker's stellar performance last season not only secured him a spot in the top 10 World Best Player rankings, where he claimed the eighth position but also played a pivotal role in Napoli's triumph, securing their first Scudetto title in over three decades.
Adding to his growing list of accolades, Osimhen was recently honored as the Italian FA Best Player of the Year, underscoring his exceptional contributions to Serie A football.
