The Brazilian center-back rose highest to meet a perfectly delivered Bukayo Saka corner, heading the ball powerfully into the back of the net midway through the second half. The goal proved to be the decisive moment in a match that offered few clear-cut opportunities.

Tottenham began the game on the front foot, with winger Dejan Kulusevski testing Arsenal's goalkeeper David Raya early on with a stinging shot, while striker Dominic Solanke also threatened with a header that narrowly missed the target.

However, Arsenal's backline, marshaled expertly by Gabriel and his defensive partner William Saliba, remained resilient and organized throughout, ensuring Tottenham found it difficult to break them down.

The derby was not only fiercely contested but also highly physical, as both teams accumulated a total of eight yellow cards. Remarkably, seven of those bookings were handed out in the first half alone, which matched a Premier League record for most yellow cards in the opening 45 minutes.

Arsenal's vital win keeps them within two points of the league leaders Manchester City, maintaining pressure at the top of the Premier League standings.

Looking ahead, the Gunners will face a significant test next weekend when they travel to the Etihad Stadium for a crucial encounter against City, a match that could have major implications for the title race.

Meanwhile, Tottenham, under the guidance of new manager Ange Postecoglou, will be left to regroup after another frustrating result, as they have managed to collect only four points from their first four league fixtures, leaving them languishing in the bottom half of the table.
