The Ecuadorian midfielder showcased his contribution to the team by providing his inaugural assist for Chelsea, setting up Cole Palmer for the opening goal.

However, his elation was short-lived as he quickly faltered, leading to Wolves' equalizer and a subsequent lead before halftime.

While Caicedo's assist highlighted his ability to bolster Chelsea's attack, his subsequent error in the midfield allowed Wolves to stage a comeback.

His loss of possession resulted in Joao Gomes setting up Matheus Cunha for Wolves’ first goal, deflecting off Thiago Silva.

Moments later, Caicedo failed to track Rayan Ait-Nouri, who finished off a Pedro Neto pullback, overcoming Axel Disasi, to give Wolves the lead.

Despite being one of Chelsea’s priciest signings in August 2023 and a regular starter since joining from Brighton, the 22-year-old's mixed performance against Wolves reveals the challenges he faces in adapting to the Premier League, having made only 53 appearances before the high-profile move.

In the meantime, Wolves solidified their dominance in the match at Stamford Bridge, with Cunha completing a hat-trick in the second half.

Although Thiago Silva scored another consolation goal for Chelsea in the 86th minute, bringing the score to 4-2, the damage was already done.

The defeat sees Wolves leapfrog Chelsea in the league standings, further distancing Chelsea from the European qualification spots.
