Victor Osimhen has been dropped from the Super Eagles’ 23-man squad for June’s World Cup qualifiers double due to injury.
Nigeria will face South Africa and Benin Republic next month, as they continue their charge for a spot in the 2026 World Cup campaign.
A camp update from the team’s official X account on Tuesday revealed that Osimhen’s condition is expected to keep him out for at least four weeks.
The double encounter must have taken place before the Napoli star returns, resulting in his replacement.
To replace Osimhen, the Super Eagles’ head coach Finidi George has called up Enugu Rangers’ left back Kenneth Igboke.
“Camp update: Africa Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen is injured and out for 4 weeks.
“Super Eagles’ Coach Finidi George has called up Enugu Rangers’ left back Kenneth Igboke for the WC qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Rep,” the statement added.
