Desire Oparanozie, the striker for Super Falcons, has issued an apology to Nigerians for her missed penalty kick during the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Nigeria's journey in the tournament concluded with a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to England in the round of 16 on Monday.
Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie[/figure]Oparanozie, who took Nigeria's first penalty, missed her shot wide of the goal. Michelle Alozie also couldn't convert her penalty kick.
Chloe Kelly's successful penalty kick secured England's victory.
Taking to her Instagram account, Oparanozie expressed her disappointment for not converting her penalty kick.
She described the day as "sad," acknowledging the disappointment of losing through penalties and extended her deep apology.
Reacting to her post, Nigerians stormed her comment section to encourage her.
