Tinubu appoints 8 new officials and launches National Economic Council

President Bola Tinubu has made eight new appointments, including the inauguration of the National Economic Council (NEC) led by Vice-President Kashim Shettima. Tinubu directed NEC to develop interventions to address the impact of the petroleum subsidy. The newly appointed officials will serve as Special Advisers with immediate effect. The appointments include Mr Dele Alake as Special Adviser for Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Mr Yau Darazo as Special Adviser for Political and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Wale Edun as Special Adviser for Monetary Policies, and Mrs Olu Verheijen as Special Adviser for Energy. Additionally, Mr Zachaeus Adedeji has been appointed as Special Adviser for Revenue, Mr Nuhu Ribadu as Special Adviser for Security, Mr John Uwajumogu as Special Adviser for Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Dr Salma Anas as Special Adviser for Health. This marks the second round of appointments made by President Tinubu since assuming office on May 29. The earlier appointments included Mr Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, Sen. George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia as Deputy Chief of Staff.
