Suleiman conveyed this sentiment in an interview with The Guardian, highlighting that the region is reassessing its approach to future elections, particularly the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the need for unity and consensus in selecting a presidential candidate moving forward.

“The North made a mistake in voting Bola Tinubu to the presidency in 2023, and it is unlikely that they will repeat the same error in the future. They have learned from their past misstep and will strive to select a candidate who can unite the country and govern in the best interests of all Nigerians," Suleiman remarked.

He further elaborated on the North's future electoral strategy, indicating a shift towards prioritizing candidates perceived as more inclusive, less controversial, and aligned with the interests of all regions of the country.

In addition to expressing regret over their support for Tinubu, Northern groups also accused him of making lopsided appointments in the federal government, adding to the discourse surrounding his candidacy and political impact.
