The incredible story of a woman who gave birth to eleven babies between July 7 and August 14, after carrying the pregnancy for three years, has taken the internet by storm. The Nigerian husband and his wife, who have been together throughout this astonishing journey, have caught the attention of many.
The births occurred in two separate events: the first set of six babies arrived, followed by the second set of five, totaling eight boys and three girls. Tragically, two of the girls did not survive the birth process.
Yahaya Nafiu, the 56-year-old husband and Missioner of the Ilorin Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) in Port Novo, Ajasse, and Cotonou, shared the remarkable experience:
[blockquote class="td_quote_box td_box_center"]“A few days after the first set of babies was born, my wife felt unusual movements in her stomach. A hospital scan revealed that she was carrying another set of babies. We then returned to the original birth attendant, where the second set of five babies was safely delivered.”
[/blockquote]Despite the joy of welcoming these children, Nafiu expressed concern over the financial challenges they are now facing due to the enormous expenses required for the care of the babies. He has reached out to both federal and state governments, as well as kind-hearted individuals, for support. In his words:
“One of the biggest challenges we are facing is raising enough money to cover the marriage rites, medical bills, and police report before we can bring the children home to Ilorin to introduce them to my parents.”
