Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress has emerged as the winner of the governorship election in Kebbi State, according to the announcement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Professor Saidu Yusuf. The election results showed that Nasir Idris secured a total of 409,225 votes, while his closest rival, General Aminu Bands of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 360,940 votes in the supplementary election held on Saturday.
The outcome of the election has sparked jubilations across Kebbi State among Nasir Idris' supporters, while the supporters of the PDP were left in shock. In his acceptance speech, the Governor-elect promised to lead an all-inclusive government and build on the successes of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. He thanked his supporters for turning out en masse to vote for the APC and urged his opponents to join hands with him to move the state forward, saying, "To those who we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward."
