A 46-year-old man, identified as Omoruyi Osemudiamen, has been apprehended by the Delta State Police Command after being found in possession of 250 live cartridges concealed within a bag. The spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, issued a statement on Sunday, August 6, 2023, revealing that the suspect was intercepted along the Benin/Asaba Expressway at Issele-Uku by operatives from the Dragon Patrol unit.
The suspect, Omoruyi Osemudiamen[/figure]According to the statement, the incident occurred on 3/8/2023 at around 1600hours when officers from the Dragon Patrol were conducting a visibility and confidence-building patrol on the Benin/Asaba Expressway at Issele-Uku. The officers intercepted a commercial Sienna vehicle and proceeded to search both the passengers and their belongings. During the search, they uncovered a total of 250 rounds of live cartridges that were meticulously concealed within a bag. The individual in possession of the bag was promptly identified as Omoruyi Osemudiamen, a 46-year-old male, who was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

The Bufallo and Eagle-Net Special Squad of the command converged on summit road in Asaba and successfully apprehended James Moro, a 23-year-old male. The operation resulted in the confiscation of a locally fabricated pump action gun from the suspect. Subsequent investigation revealed that James Moro had been using the firearm to carry out nighttime robberies in the area. The investigation into this matter is currently ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and proactive in the face of security challenges. He encouraged individuals to report any cases of kidnapping or other related issues to the Delta State Police Command. He assured the public that the command is committed to apprehending and prosecuting criminals responsible for such activities.
