[p]The Lagos State Government has placed Chrisland High School, Ikeja, under probation and strict monitoring for one academic session, according to a statement by Folasade Adefisayo, the State Commissioner for Education. This decision follows a meeting between the management of Chrisland Schools and government agencies under the Lagos State Joint Task Force responsible for the implementation of the child protection and safeguarding policy.
As a result, the management of Chrisland School has been directed by the Lagos State Ministry of Education to urgently implement short and long-term reforms in school governance. Additionally, the school must recruit a certified Risk Manager to conduct and render a detailed analysis of risk management to all students, all staff, stakeholders, and affected families regarding the death of Miss Adeniran. These stipulated conditions were determined based on official investigations and reviews conducted by all the agencies that form the Task Force and are an example of the usual conditions precedent to reopening schools closed for any form of infraction in Lagos State, as explained by Adefisayo.
