[p]A former boxer identified as Moses Olapade has been arrested by the Ondo Police for allegedly punching his wife to a coma over a television remote in their home at No. 9 Odama Street in the Oke-Aro community of Akure.
According to police reports, Olapade, who is now a truck driver, had returned from a journey and wanted to watch a programme on the TV, but his wife refused to hand him the remote to change the channel. He reportedly punched his wife in the face repeatedly until she lost consciousness. The children of the couple called for help, and neighbors intervened to save the woman's life. The matter was later reported to community leaders, who informed the police and subsequently arrested the ex-boxer. The victim is currently receiving medical attention, while the suspect is in police custody awaiting trial.
